On April 1, 2025, a meeting took place at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing between Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and the Vice Mayor of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, Ms. Wu Ganyui.
The Secretary-General informed his interlocutor about the activities of the Organization and drew attention to the substantial and numerous events held under China's chairmanship in the SCO.
An exchange of views took place on promising areas of cooperation between Lianyungang and the member states of the SCO. The vice mayor confirmed the city's authorities' interest in further strengthening ties within the Organization in trade and economic, transport and logistics, and other issues. The need to fill the interaction of Lianyungang with the SCO with specific and practical content was noted.
Nurlan Yermekbayev invited Ms. Wu Ganyui to participate in the Meeting of the Heads of Ports and Logistics Centers of the SCO member states in Kazakhstan this autumn.
In turn, Ms. Wu Ganyui expressed the willingness of Lianyungang to become a permanent venue for the China-SCO Logistics Roundtable.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Secretariat, representatives from transport and logistics centers, and other organizations from Lianyungang.
