On 18 October 2024, a roundtable dedicated to the Year of Sustainable Development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was convened at the SCO Friendship and Cooperation Centre in Tajikistan.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, the Presidential Academy of Public Administration of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, which holds the chairmanship of the SCO in 2024-2025.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Sodik Imomi, and SCO Secretary-General, Zhang Ming, extended their welcoming remarks to the participants. Presentations were also delivered by the Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan, the Director of the SCO Friendship and Cooperation Centre in Tajikistan, the Chairman of the Centre’s Advisory Council, Tajikistan’s National Coordinator for SCO Affairs, ambassadors of the SCO family states, and representatives from think tanks of SCO member states.
During the roundtable discussion, participants engaged in an exchange of views concerning the efforts undertaken within the SCO space to promote sustainable development at both national and regional levels. Additionally, participants reviewed China’s plans as the SCO chair regarding a series of events to be organised on this subject.
The event included a concert programme performed by young talents from the Talabkhoja Sattorov Tajik National Conservatory, along with an exhibition of Chinese calligraphy.
