On 20 September 2024, SCO Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev attended the 8th Taihe Civilisations Forum in Beijing.
In his remarks made at the international relations session, Nurlan Yermekbayev spoke about the SCO’s achievements and prospects. He emphasised that the Shanghai spirit was the moral and ideological core of the Organisation, serving as foundation for a new type of international relations in today’s world. The SCO’s notable achievements are due to the unshakable principles of the Shanghai spirit among other things. Currently, the SCO is developing cooperation in a wide range of areas, from transport and trade to security and culture.
The forum was attended by Chair of the China Public Diplomacy Association, former director of the China Scientific Society for People’s Diplomacy Wu Hailong, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions, research institutions and the media.
