On 21 June 2024, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan met with Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev on the sidelines of the SCO Energy Ministers Meeting in Astana.
The officials praised the results of the Meeting and were satisfied to note the approval of a draft strategy for expanded energy cooperation between SCO member states until 2030.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed the current state of SCO energy interaction and its development prospects.
Sohail Khan singled out the successful SCO Energy Forum, held in October 2023, during the Kazakhstan Energy Week 2023, with the minister’s direct involvement.
Sohail Khan thanked the Kazakhstani side for its substantial contribution to expanding SCO energy interaction and reaffirmed the intention of the SCO Secretariat to continue assisting the implementation of Kazakhstan’s initiatives to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields.
He expressed confidence that the Republic of Kazakhstan boasting impressive energy resources and a considerable science and technological potential would continue to make a worthy contribution to the successful implementation of energy projects with all SCO counties, as well as observer states and SCO dialogue partners.
