On 6 December 2023, Astana hosted the 18th meeting of the expert working group as part of the SCO Defence Ministers’ Council, under Kazakhstan's chairmanship. It was attended by representatives of the defence departments of the member states, the Republic of Belarus and the SCO Secretariat. The parties discussed the Expert Group Action Plan for 2024 and exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to the activities of the SCO Defence Ministers’ Council.
