On 25 October 2023 in Bishkek, as part of his working visit to Kyrgyzstan and on the sidelines of the 22nd meeting of the SCO Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) Council, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming met with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Jalil Abbas Jilani.
The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister exchanged opinions on the main vectors of cooperation and prospects for improving the SCO’s activities at the current stage, preparations for the upcoming meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council as well as priorities of Pakistan’s presidency in the Heads of Government Council in 2023-2024.
The 22nd meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council, chaired by of Kyrgyzstan, is being held on 25-26 October 2023 in Bishkek. According to the SCO regulations, upon completion of the meeting, Pakistan will take over the presidency in the SCO Heads of Government Council in 2023-2024. It will be the first time that Pakistan has held the SCO Heads of Government Council presidency.
