On 16 November 2022, Moscow hosted an informal meeting of senior officials of the SCO, the CSTO and the CIS. It was attended by SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev and CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, who chaired the trilateral meeting.
The officials discussed cooperation between their organisations and exchanged views on the current aspects of the situation in the region and the world. The focus was on coordinating practical measures and implementing joint global and regional security projects. They pointed out their common views on the importance of partner ties among their organisations’ top officials for maintaining peace, security and stability in Eurasia.
They reaffirmed their readiness to continue strengthening ties.
Zhang Ming also visited the CSTO United Staff as part of the event.
The informal meeting of senior officials of the SCO, the CSTO and the CIS are held every year. This year’s meeting was the first one since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. To date, nine such meetings have been held.
