On 23 September 2022, Kazakhstan chaired the 20th anniversary hybrid (online/personal) Meeting of Prosecutors-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States in Astana.
The meeting was attended by the Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, the Prosecutor-General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Asylov, , the Procurator-General of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate Zhang Jun, Prosecutor-General of the Kyrgyz Republic Kurmankul Zulushev, Additional Attorney-General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Rashdeen Nawaz Kasuri, Prosecutor-General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor-General of the Republic of Tajikistan Yusuf Rahmon, Prosecutor-General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev, and SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming.
The meeting agenda included the issues of expanding cooperation to more effectively combat rising transnational economic crime in the SCO region, the repatriation of financial assets illegally transferred from SCO member states, and interaction in streamlining national legislation as regards practical law enforcement, etc.
China is to host the 21st Meeting of Prosecutors General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States in 2023.
