SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming addressed the opening ceremony of the Smart China Expo held in Chongqing on 22 August 2022.
The Secretary-General emphasised that the pace and scale of introducing smart information technology is becoming the defining factor in a countries’ economic and industrial development.
The SCO’s relevant mechanisms focus on the creation of conditions for joint scientific research, the introduction and distribution of artificial intelligence solutions, robotics, the Internet of Things, the development of innovation centres and technology parks and the incubation and acceleration of startups.
He also noted the efforts of the SCO member states to build interaction in smart agriculture and the development of cross-border e-commerce.
The Smart China Expo, a Chinese international intellectual industry fair, has been held in Chongqing since 2018. This year, the event brought together over 500 Chinese and foreign exhibits of advanced achievements in intellectual technology.
