On 23 May, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming.
The President of Tajikistan praised the SCO's 20-year performance and wished Zhang Ming every success in his responsible position.
They analysed the implementation of the SCO Development Strategy until 2025, the Dushanbe Declaration on the 20th Anniversary of the SCO and the Programme of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation. They also discussed the current status of intra-SCO cooperation and its development prospects. Emomali Rahmon and Zhang Ming focused on political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian interaction between SCO member states, opportunities for upgrading the transport infrastructure and boosting the efficiency of the SCO region's transit potential.
They discussed efforts to consistently improve the quality of mechanisms for maintaining regional security, fighting terrorism and extremism, ensuring information security and preventing cybercrime. They also touched upon Tajikistan's initiative to establish the SCO Anti-Drug Centre in Dushanbe.
