On 22 March 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the People's Republic of China Pradeep K. Rawat at the SCO Secretariat.
The parties spoke in a friendly and warm atmosphere, discussing the SCO's current political, socioeconomic, cultural and humanitarian activities, as well as promising areas for future multilateral cooperation. They placed a special emphasis on ways to ensure regional security, combat terrorist and extremist threats, and expand cooperation in healthcare.
Pradeep K. Rawat reaffirmed India's intention to actively participate in drafting and implementing the organisation's agenda. The parties reaffirmed a mutual readiness for continued dialogue and regular contacts between the Secretariat and the Indian Embassy in China, given that India will soon take over the SCO chairmanship after the 21st meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) scheduled for September 2022 in Samarkand.
