On 1 March 2021, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming had a meeting at the Secretariat with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to China Mohamed Ghassan Mohamed Adnan Shaikho.
The Ambassador congratulated Zhang Ming on his appointment to the post of SCO Secretary-General and confirmed his country's interest in joining the SCO as a Dialogue Partner. He also said that Bahrain was committed to close cooperation with SCO member states, adding that his country and the SCO member states were facing the same challenges and problems, which were identical in their nature and therefore had to be dealt with through joint efforts. He noted that Bahrain, as a member-state of the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council, had an extensive record of involvement in the activities of regional multilateral organisations.
The SCO Secretary-General thanked the Ambassador for his warm greetings, praised Bahrain's interest in the SCO, and stated its readiness for joint work on matters of mutual interest.
